Project LPPPA

Project Love, Prayer, and Persistent Political Action started on Mother's Day, May 9, 2004, as a seven-year plan to shut down the Tiller Late-Term Abortion Facility in Wichita, Kansas. The plan was to keep an on-site presence at Tiller's gate during every hour that he was open for business. KCFL volunteers offered real help and feasible, positive, options to those clients who did not actually want an abortion, but who were being forced into it by unfavorable circumstances.

This successful plan started out with only a handful of dedicated people, but within five years, it involved over 650 Christians from all over the United States who volunteered to help with the continual, peaceful, prayerful, presence at Tiller's gate. Each volunteer agreed to the on-site rules established by KCFL, and at one time or another each LPPPA volunteer took a shift at the gate of the Tiller abortion facility. The average day was 7:00 am to 6:00 pm or about eleven (11) hours every business day. However, sometimes the hours were much longer. When the Tiller abortion facility was open 24 hours per day, dedicated volunteers, sometimes driving long distances, and staying on-site for day-long shifts in unfavorable weather conditions, provided complete coverage for every hour that the Tiller facility was open for just over five years.

The amazing dedication of the LPPPA volunteers, who served at the Tiller Abortion facility, was and is unparalleled in the history of the proLife movement in America. This unheard of dedication attracted not only nationwide media attention in papers like the New York Times, but also worldwide media coverage; (see the links below).

The numbers of on-site volunteers varied from a couple, to a couple of hundred on-site at any given time. However, the average number of on-site volunteers was about 4 people at a time, with each having a specific duty during an average 2-hour staggered shift. In the end, by offering positive alternatives to the would-be clients of this deadly business, KCFL volunteers saved the lives of 396 babies (each documented).

The Wichita Area on-site presence at Tiller's gate ended on May 31, 2009, when the Tiller Facility closed following the death of Abortionist George R. Tiller. From there, Project LPPPA volunteers focused on closing the "Aid for Women" Abortion facility in Kansas City, Kansas, as well as two other Kansas City area abortion facilities.

The Persistent Political Action aspect of Project LPPPA started in 2003 and continues uninterrupted to this day, as KCFL volunteers work on a daily basis across Kansas, toward electing proLife public office-holders at all levels of government, and for passage of proLife legislation.

Currently, the passage of HEARTBEAT LEGISLATION in Kansas is a high priority for KCFL LPPPA volunteers, because it would eliminate about 85% of the abortions currently being done in Kansas. Our goal is to save as many human lives as possible, as soon as possible, and to make abortion unnecessary by offering real help, including direct financial support, housing, and other assistance as needed, giving the would-be abortion client a positive tangible alternative to being forced to make a decision to kill her own child - a decision that is almost always made only because the mother lacks a better alternative to the real problems dominating her life at that time.
